Time For Me!

I finished work last Friday...I can't face a new job just yet. After almost 5 years with this company and more ups and downs than a Las Vegas rollercoaster I have a lot of shit to get out of my head!  One of my close workmates kept emailing and texting me shit that is going on...I had to let her know that for now I don't want to know.  This time is for me!!

I've really been taking it easy - reading, weight watching, sleeping, spring cleaning etc. Ok the spring cleaning isn't taking it easy but gee it makes me feel good!

Tomorrow I have 4 hours at a day spa (christmas pressie from my man), on Saturday I'm going to that Craig Harper Seminar and on Sunday we are treating ourselves to a couple of nights at the Hyatt Sanctuary Cove!!  I've even splashed out and bought my first ever sexy lingerie!! Can't wait to see his face!!

Weight loss update - 100g down this week!! Yip Yip! Going in the right direction!

Sleepy Surbuban Sunday - Not!!! My brush with the Law!!

Do I have an exciting (non weight-loss) story for you today!!

It was just after 8, I'd fed the cats and made myself a cuppa and a bit of toast and I was sitting on the lounge, with my feet in slippers on the coffee table, morning sun streaming into the lounge room while I was trying to ascertain if we have a new PM or not.

I look outside to see what the fur-babies are up to and low and behold I see a police car parked out the front of my neighbour's house and a policeman is knocking on her door. My first thought is that I hope everything is ok and she's not getting one of those horrible death knocks.  I soon figure out it's not as the policeman is looking at a policewoman who's doing the same thing on our side of the street.  The neighbour (who's house I can see isn't home) and the policeman starts to leave...I have to admit at this stage I'm a bit panicky because I look like shit, I'm in my mis-matching pj's, my eyes are puffy and there is glitter all over my face from last night's party, I mean I could go and get sorted but that might mean missing some of the action!

Time passes and there was no knock for my front, but can I tell you the curiosity was killing me - especially when two new police cars drove pass - 3 police cars in 10 minutes - something serious is happening!!!

I should point out that I live smack bang in the middle of working class surburbia, its a lovely, quiet area mixed with young familes, older families and empty nesters - we all talk and keep an eye out for each other, borrow an iron, help unload furniture, share our recycling bins and gardening tips that type of community thing, there's never much noise after 8pm or before 7.....so there really was a drama going down!!

It seemed that I wasn't going to find out what was happening in a hurry so I went about my day, house working and getting the day's meals organised. I started to hang some washing on the line when.... (I swear I felt like an extra in Blue Heelers)....a policeman and his police dog came over my back fence (its about waist height) and into my yard!!! Ooooh how exciting! I said "Is everything alright?" and he said "We're looking for a guy that's wanted by the police, has anyone been through here lately?" ...."Not that I know of I said" as he raced off.

I then started chatting to one the neighbours who backs onto us. He told me that a couple of doors up from him (which corners onto our place) there were a stack of police and detectives there, I know a bunch of young guys live there, they have a few parties, but they have never bothered me much!  Lovely boyfriend reckons its drugs (of course) and told me off for just letting the policeman in (apparently he was supposed to ask) - I was just disappointed that it wasn't Josh or Lawson (from Rush) but at least I was dressed this time!!

Housework is Evil

We started today all happy and positive, I was going to let Alex sleep in while I went for a swim and then organise to go looking at lights to get ideas for the kitchen. He had to work at 12 so we decided I'd exercise later and we'd go shopping first, look at a business we're considering buying and then he'd go to work and I'd catch the bus home (just easier that way). It was definitely worth the trip, we came up with some great ideas and discovered that we agree on more than we thought!  Don't think the business is for us.

He dropped me in town, I bought some new walking pants and a belt (yes I need a belt when I wear my jeans now!). I was feeling great, smiling and happy as finally we have a clear direction for our future and I love getting the bus on occasion, gives you time to look and takes you on roads you don't normally drive down, i'ts a different view of the world!

Anyway came home, did some housework and while vacuming I have pulled a muscle in my lower back. I have iced it up and taken some anti-inflammatories but I guess I won't ve starting that Pilates class I had my eye on this afternoon! Hope I'm ok tomorrow because I hate going more than 2 days without alcohol....oops I meant exercise, yes exercise! Definitely not doing any more house work today, too dangerous!

Ps. I bought this from Kikki K today to make planning meals a bit more fun

Friday On My Mind

Well actually it's here already and I'm snuggled up on my ownsome and thought it would be a good time to reflect on my week and let you in on some future planning!

Health wise - a good week, just middle of the road good. I exercise 4 times, walking - 2 x 50 minutes walk, 1 x 20 minute walk and 1 x30 minute walk.  I feel in the swing of that now and am planning to do a Yoga or Pilates class over the weekend.  As for eating - ok, couple of days over points, nothing too major and I lost .2 kgs. I've really boosted my vegie intake, I just love wine too much!

Mindset - I've noticed a definite change in the way I'm thinking about food, particularly cravings. Every morning this week, I've craved (I use the term lightly) a big huge fat savoury muffin and on the way to work I argue with myself - but the side that says "you can't eat anything you don't know the points value for" wins, it also comes up with such pearls like "it could be 20 points and that almost all your points for the day", "how much walking will I have to do to walk it off", "the food I have with me will be much more filling", "you didn't say no to cake yesterday to ruin it all today"!!

Uni - got results back from 2 assignments I submitted before Easter and got 89/100 for one and 94.5/100 for the other - needless to say - I AM STOKED!!

Work - Good week, been given the ok to take on some more responsibility and work a bit more autonomously - to fill you in - I have been working in a newly created role for the last 6 months, there is stacks to learn and we've been waiting to see what shape it would take.

Love - my man is a gem, has cooked healthy dinners for me all week and told me he wants to take me on  an overseas trip this year! Yippee!!

Future - we are looking at buying our own business, I'll keep working and Alex will run it! Looking at cafe/bakery type thing! Tres exciting!

All in all life is good and I am thankful and grateful to everyone who has influenced it!

Quick Post

Hi all,

Thank you all so much for your comments, Deb you cracked me up - I'm glad you don't love my boyfriend, well you might if you meet him. Lucy- yes he's definitely a keeper.  As for the "What I'm Reading" thingo, I made it myself by adding the gadget you'd normally use for photos. To find a pic I just google the book title as save the image then slot it in.  I've been thinking about adding an amazon link or something like that, but not sure if I want to commercialise by blog, I'm opposed to gratuitous advertising! A book club sounds like a great idea!

Bel - I'm glad that you are glad I posted yesterday, it really helps knowing people are reading it and I think I needed to write something that wasn't completely focused on losing weight!

Will write again soon xxx

10 Things I Love (plus one)

1. My boyfriend (Alex)
2. My family
3. My friends (especially Mel, Lou & Dea)
4. My fur-babies (Fanta & Zeus)
5. Sleeping in (got a big one today -10am!!)
6. Reading a good book (the ones where your life feels empty when you've finished)
7. Running into people you know when you least expect it (this could also be on a hate list depending on how one looks at the time!)
8. Cooking for other people (yum yum!)
9. The feeling you get after exercise!
10. Being Happy!!
and
11. Being Me!!

I didn't really feel like writing today but I have a massive fan base of 13 now and I want to keep you all happy!  I have had a really lazy day and feel so good for it, though I did go to the market for fruit and veg! Was in a bit of a nothing mood, but had a quick chat with Mel who I broke the news of Paul Weller touring again to and she is so excited; her energy has perked me up, as has listing the things that I love. So going for a walk to shops to get the ingredient I forgot while doing my big shop yesterday - god I hope IGA stock the light version!! Have a great day everyone!

PS - Alex did a wonderful thing last night! On our way home form dinner I suggested we do our usual and call into Baskin Robbins for a treat. He said "I think they might be closed", I said "Why don't we drive past and check?", he said "Why don't we just pretend its closed and go straight home", I said "Great idea!!".
